IS MALTOSE GOOD FOR YOU?

 Since I have started writing blogs about Malt, many people have asked me whether maltose is good for health or not.

So today I will try to answer this question of yours. Well there are not much research that has taken place about the health effects of maltose in the diet.


So before moving further, let me first help you understand the meaning of maltose:


Maltose basically is made up of two alpha D glucose units which are linked with an alpha 1,4 glycosidic bond. In the small intestinal lining in humans, the enzyme maltase and isomaltase break down the molecules of maltose into two glucose molecules, which is then absorbed by the body.

CRISPY CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE

 Have tried various recipes to lighten up my baking routines but everytime I failed. Sometimes they were flat and sometimes they were too greasy and buttery. But the ingredient that attracted me was Mahalaxmi Malt Extract. That was a game-changing ingredient for me. So, my current obsession is Mahalaxmi Malt Extract’s  Confectionery Malt Extract, malt extract powder manufacturer’s  malted milk powder - the unassuming carton of powdery milk found in the dried dairy section of most grocery stores used for making cookies, cakes, homemade ice creams, and brownies infinitely better. 


So, how about we try something? Let’s go for a Crispy Chocolate Chip Cookie. Just thinking about it is watering my mouth…..

Ingredients Required:

All-purpose flour– The basic ingredient when we talk about our Crispy Chocolate Chip Cookie is flour. BUT remember not to use too much flour, your cookies won’t be thin and crispy.

Baking soda and baking powder–Its another must product along with sea salt, unsalted butter and ofcourse brown sugars

Eggs– As for eggs, if you are comfortable using them, use the cold eggs right from the fridge.

Chocolate chips AND chocolate chunks–  It's something like cherry on the cake. It's up to you which flavour you buy.

Bought all the ingredients?? Shall we start making?

The first step to start is to whisk all the dry ingredients together and then mix then mix the butter and sugars together until it gets smooth. Then that smooth mixture is scraped down the sides and bottom of the bowl with a spatula, as necessary. 

If you use eggs, then add eggs and Mahalaxmi malt extract's vanilla extract and then mix it with dry ingredients.

Stir in the chocolate chips and chocolate chunks and make the dough. Cover the dough and leave it in the refrigerator for one hour.

Cover the dough and refrigerate it for at least one hour. Chilling the dough helps the flavours develop, the longer the better. I usually do 24 hours, but you can chill the cookie dough for up to 72 hours.

When ready to bake, remove the dough from the fridge. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Roll the dough into balls and place the cookie balls on a large baking sheet that has been lined with a Silpat or parchment paper.

Bake for 12 to 14 minutes or until golden brown around the edges. Remove the pan from the oven and give it a good bang on the counter or solid surface. This will help flatten the cookies, don’t skip this step!

Sprinkle the cookies with flaky sea salt. I like to do this right AFTER the cookies come out of the oven because you can see the sea salt and it’s so pretty. The sea salt will stick to the cookies when they are still warm.

Let the cookies sit on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

The chances of consuming beer or malt liquor is quite common at some point of time  (if you drink). So, if you have tasted both, you might or might not have felt the difference between the two. In reality, they are quite different from each other but the difference is normally hard to tell.

The first distillation takes place in the ‘wash’ still where the alcohol vapours first rise to the top i.e. over the head of the still, before they are guided through a condenser as they return to a liquid form.

As a result, a ‘low wine’ gets prepared which then makes its way to the second ‘spirit’ still, where the distillation process repeats itself. High quality spirit is then collected in a locked spirit safe.

REFRESH YOURSELF WITH MAHALAXMI MALT EXTRACT’S MALTED MILKSHAKE

 I am not a cooking lover but on this sunny day, I suddenly started craving for something chill like an ice-cream or cool milkshake etc . So, I finally decided to try making a malted milkshake.

Malted milkshake is a regular milkshake with barley malt powder or barley malt extract made from a mixture of malted barley, wheat flour, and evaporated whole milk. This powder (also known as dry malt extract or malt extract powder) is used to add its distinctive, nutty flavour to beverages and other foods but can also be used in baking, pharma, flakes etc. In other words, Malted milkshakes or various other malted milk foods in India are  prepared with low fat milk, malted milk and ice cream are simply yummy and healthy too. Then it's time to Dip the rim of the glass in the chocolate, and have another plate with sprinkles ready.

The next step is to place the glasses in the freezer while making the malt. This is done because it helps set the chocolate, and keeps the sprinkles on the glass, and not on the floor .

OK! Time to focus on milkshakes. I chose the combination of ice cream, milk, Mahalaxmi Malt Extract’s chocolate syrup, and Mahalaxmi Malt Extract’s  malt powder and put them into a blender to mix. The easy and straight answer to this question is NO! NO! and NO!


Malt Powder and malted milk powder are not the same products. The former is made from wheat flour and another grain, usually barley and the latter i.e. malted milk powder is malt powder with milk solids added to it.
