The first distillation takes place in the ‘wash’ still where the alcohol vapours first rise to the top i.e. over the head of the still, before they are guided through a condenser as they return to a liquid form.

As a result, a ‘low wine’ gets prepared which then makes its way to the second ‘spirit’ still, where the distillation process repeats itself. High quality spirit is then collected in a locked spirit safe.

REFRESH YOURSELF WITH MAHALAXMI MALT EXTRACT’S MALTED MILKSHAKE

 I am not a cooking lover but on this sunny day, I suddenly started craving for something chill like an ice-cream or cool milkshake etc . So, I finally decided to try making a malted milkshake.

Malted milkshake is a regular milkshake with barley malt powder or barley malt extract made from a mixture of malted barley, wheat flour, and evaporated whole milk. This powder (also known as dry malt extract or malt extract powder) is used to add its distinctive, nutty flavour to beverages and other foods but can also be used in baking, pharma, flakes etc. In other words, Malted milkshakes or various other malted milk foods in India are  prepared with low fat milk, malted milk and ice cream are simply yummy and healthy too. The addition of chocolate syrup, although in small amounts, in its preparation gives malted shake an extra chocolate flavour.

Then it's time to Dip the rim of the glass in the chocolate, and have another plate with sprinkles ready.

The next step is to place the glasses in the freezer while making the malt. This is done because it helps set the chocolate, and keeps the sprinkles on the glass, and not on the floor .

OK! Time to focus on milkshakes. I chose the combination of ice cream, milk, Mahalaxmi Malt Extract’s chocolate syrup, and Mahalaxmi Malt Extract’s  malt powder and put them into a blender to mix. After getting a perfect mix, I added whipped cream, more chocolate sauce as a drizzle, some sprinkles, and a cherry on top and VOILA! We are done……Try it, and let us know how’s it.

The easy and straight answer to this question is NO! NO! and NO!


Malt Powder and malted milk powder are not the same products. The former is made from wheat flour and another grain, usually barley and the latter i.e. malted milk powder is malt powder with milk solids added to it.

MALT EXTRACT - LME AND DME

 Whenever someone talks about Malt extract, the first thing that clicks in their mind is “an important ingredient in brewing beer”. But that might not be the case. It IS an important ingredient but not only for beer. LME:

Caramel Malts undergo a special heat process called "stewing" after the malting which crystallizes the sugars. These sugars are caramelized into longer chains that are not converted into simple sugars by the enzymes during the mash which results in a more malty, caramel sweet, fuller tasting beer. These malts are used for almost all ale and comparatively higher gravity lager styles. Different amounts of malts are used in making beer.

Caramel 10 L -The additional light honey-like sweetness and some body to the finished beer is added by caramel 10L.

Caramel 40 L -This malt adds color and light caramel sweetness of this malt is perfect for pale ales and amber lagers.

Caramel 60 L -The most commonly used caramel malt is caramel 60 L which is also known as medium crystal. It is well suited for pale ales, English style bitters, porters and stouts and adds a full caramel taste and body to the beer.

Caramel 80 L This malt is used for making reddish colored beers and gives a lightly bittersweet caramel flavor.

Caramel 120 L This malt adds a lot of color and bittersweet caramel flavor. Useful in small amounts to add complexity or in greater amounts for old ales, barleywines and doppelbocks. 

Chocolate Malt (roasted black malt) 350°L

Along with various essentials ingredients used in making beer, chocolate also holds a significant place. Chocolate malt adds a dark color and pleasant roast flavor.
